1. The name Philippines is came from King Philip II of Spain. In 1543, Spanish explorer Ruy Lopez De Villalobos named the archipelago Las Islas Filipinas in honor of King Philip II of spain. Ferdinand Margellan was the first to discovered the philippines when he landed on Homonhon island on March 16, 1521. The philippines became part of the spanish empire for more than 300 years.

2. The Philippine archipelago is composed of about 7,641 islands. And has 19 recognised languages.

3. Landmass is about 300,000 square kilometers. And has a population of  102,500,000.

4. The first south asean country to gain independence after the world war II.

5. Japan launched its invasion of the philippines on 1941.

6. The philippines is rich of all sort of different types of animals. 

7. 90% of the population is christian and is the 80% is identified as Roman Catholic. And the only country in south asia that has catholic majority.

8. The philippines holds the record that has a longest christmas celebration.

9. The philippines has the four worlds top largest malls those malls are SM mega mall, SM seaside city cebu, SM mall of asia, SM north edsa.

10. World's top supplier of nurses, 25% nurses of the world is from the philippines. And 11% of the population works abroad.

11. One of the UNESCO world heritage site in 1995 is the Rice Terraces of philippine cordilleras.

12. Nine of the UNESCO world hehitage site is in the Philippines.
